New Displays at The Pocahontas and Laurens Public Libraries
October 15, 2014
A display of objects from the museum called "Picturing the Past" is now at the Pocahontas Public Library. It includes cameras, glass negatives, and old photos from county residents.
At the Laurens Public Library, we've set up a farming display. There are old jars of seed corn, corn husking pegs and a seed corn dryer. Did you know that a farmer from Pocahontas was the first recipient in the country of federal crop support payments? You can find out about it in the 1930's newspaper article that is included in the display. Also look for the information about the Woodin Egg Washer that was produced in Laurens in the 1950's. You'll have to visit the museum to see the egg washer itself becuase it was too big to fit in the display case.
